Motivated by concerns about the planet his 4-year-old daughter would inherit, Damon embarked on a global journey to meet innovators leading the way to a better future. In 2040, Damon speaks to change-makers in the areas of economics, technology, civil society, agriculture, education and sustainability.
2040 is a story of hope that looks at the very real possibility that humanity could reverse global warming and improve the lives of every living thing in the process. It is a positive vision of what ‘could be’, that will give your students hope for the future.
2040 launched in UK & Irish cinemas in Nov 2019, and is now available for school screenings across the country! You can purchase an educational license for 2040 for your school and share the film with your class by visiting the education shop.
By purchasing an educational screening license of 2040, schools can use the film for several types of screenings such as; screenings in classrooms (both in-person and virtually), screenings with pupils and parents, and screenings for fundraising purposes.
Cool Australia has partnered with 2040 to develop a set of 31 lessons to guide teachers and students through this innovative Australian documentary from Director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film).

Our units follow the narrative of the film encouraging students to discover information, identify and solve problems, students then make plans to take action.
All lessons contain exclusive clips from 2040 only available to teachers and students.
Subject Specific Units of Work will challenge students to dig deep into the solutions presented in the film.
Social Action Lessons will have students taking what they have learned in previous lessons and engaging others to join The Regeneration.
